PROFILE/ RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE
My personal art photography is an ongoing business under the moniker "Island Textures."
I have operated Fireweed Designs on Denman since 1994, and have extensive experience with both print and web design. I work on an IMac and specialize in Adobe Photoshop.
Projects for others include creating advertising for local businesses, photographing artist's work, designing blogs and websites, labels and packaging, business cards, signage, invitations, brochures, posters of all kinds, and more.
A few local examples:
- PR person for the annual DI Pottery Tour for all but one of the past 17 years, designing posters, photographing and displaying work on line and in print, writing articles, profiling artists.
- photographer for the Home & Garden Tour, and the Christmas Craft Faire numerous times over the years.
- In 2008 I designed the Living on Denman brochure under the guidance of Harlene Home and Peter Thomsen.
- In both 2013 and 2015 I worked for the Denman Arts Tour on the Public Relations co-ordinator which included writing and designing promotional materials (ads, posters, postcards, etc), co-ordinating media outreach, etc.
- In 2015 I designed the Denman Island Visitors brochure under the guidance of Veronica Timmons.
- I have experience not only writing but editing and streamlining text for promotional needs of all kinds.
- I have a long term, positive working relationship with Sure Copies in Courtenay which handles the bulk of my printing needs for clients of all kinds.

RELATED VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE
-As a long time event co-ordinator I have a keen interest in promoting the arts, local and regional activities, and understand the importance of media outreach. I admin DIAL (Denman Island's Alternative Bulletin Board on Facebook), primarily as a chat-free event calendar which is maintained daily to keep event dates and current information readily accessible to members. I perform similar functions for three other social media sites, one with over 4,000 members.
-As the co co-ordinator for Denman Island's Community Vegan Potluck Series between 1993 and 2014, I have designed close to a hundred posters.
-I created brochures for the Denman Women's Outreach Society a couple of times over the years, and occassionally take on pro bono graphic design projects for social justice organizations in the Valley.
